Appeared in: Season 1, Episode 12 - "Fire" If there's one thing we found personally creepy and off-putting about season one's Cecil L'Ively, it was that he offered a pair of small children a chance to smoke. As soon as that scene hit the screen, you knew how evil he really was. It probably says something about modern sensibilities that his temptation of small children with a cigarette ("go on, it'll make a man out of you") seemed more disturbing than the fact that he was very obviously pyrokinetic, an arsonist, and a murderer. Portrayed by Mark Sheppard, who would go on to appear in Firefly, Warehouse 13, Battlestar Galactica, and Supernatural, L'Ively was an over-the-top villain whose final lines might have been cartoon-like if not properly delivered. Instead they worked perfectly - set ablaze using an accelerant to turn his own power against him, L'Ively screams out "you can't fight fire with fire" before falling to the ground, charred. Of course, he's somewhat right - displaying an abnormally rapid healing ability, L'Ively, on the mend, is last heard telling a nurse that he's just "dying for a cigarette."
