2. The Characters
Few characters have won people over like Mulder and Scully. The clash between skeptic and believer, the will they? or wont they? romance, and their perpetual conflict between balancing relationship with the search for the truth all of these elements made those two characters the most compelling duo on TV for over decade (and perhaps even amidst TV history). We simply dont have two characters that can engender that same intense interest and passion from a viewing audience. Its because those two creations complete each other a yin and a yang. I believe if the show were to return to its roots, The X-Files could achieve mainstream success. In the end, the audience watches for the characters and I dare say there are no two more compelling TV characters than Mulder and Scully.
