The X-Files: Every Season 10 Episode Ranked Worst To Best
4. My Struggle
The season premiere had a lot of ground to cover in a single hour. On top of finding a way to bring Mulder and Scully back into the FBI after fans had last seen them in 2008's I Want to Believe film, it had to set the stage for the latest conspiracy, appease old fans, and distill nine seasons and two movies' worth of storytelling and character growth into an easy-to-digest introduction to the series for newcomers jumping into the world of The X-Files for the first time. In the end, it was still a bit convoluted - perhaps needlessly so - but the simple thrill of seeing Mulder, Scully, and Skinner again was enough to elevate an otherwise standard episode. As for Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny themselves, both still seemed to be shaking off their time, respectively, as Bedelia du Maurier on Hannibal and Hank Moody on Californication to really regain their hold on their beloved FBI agents. It wasn't the season's best nor the worst, but in terms of reacclimatizing the cast and fans alike to the show after years of being absent, it served its purpose in getting the season up and running.
