The X-Files: 10 Ways To Continue The Franchise

1. Produce A Third Feature Film

A third feature film is probably the best option to properly tie up the mythology story line, especially if it can be done at the same level of quality as the first X-Files feature film. It needs to have a decent budget, and all involved need to agree that regardless of future monster of the week specials or a next generation TV show, the conspiracy/alien colonization storyline needs to end with it. This isn't as left field as you think. Chris Carter has talked about hammering out a script for a third film. Frank Spotnitz, one of the show's co-producers in its final years, has talked about it as well. With the success of the revival, Carter has been talking about it again - but he as well has stressed that the budget needs to be there. It cannot be a low-key outing like 2008's I Want To Believe. There's also a limited time window to go this route. With the success of the revival, doing a movie in the next year or two could pay off. After that? It's more of a gamble. Strike while the iron is hot - that's what needs to happen here. How do you want to see the series continue, or wrap up? Add your thoughts below!
