Static, created in 1993 by Dwayne McDuffie, Robert L. Washington III and John Paul Leon, is not one of the major DC characters, but has appeared in a number of big teams over the years including Heroes, the Justice League, and the Teen Titans. The character received his own animated series, Static Shock, in 2000 and appeared on Young Justice as well. Static is the alter-ego of a high school student named Virgil Ovid Hawkins, who gains a variety of electromagnetic abilities after being doused with experimental chemicals. His age alone makes him an interesting character, as he's often overwhelmed by the combined responsibilities of being an adolescent on the edge of adulthood and being a costumed superhero. Static would add a much-needed element of diversity to the superhero genre, and could fit in quite nicely with the fellow young heroes on Titans. His past affiliation with the team shows that he has a place on the roster, while his status as a fan-favorite character could draw in some additional viewers.
