Top 8 Characters From The Wire

6. Howard "Bunny" Colvin

bunny colvin The man behind Hamsterdam. In the twilight of his career, Bunny lowers the crime rate by 13% in his district by legalizing dealing and using on one street. Of course, nothing gold can stay, and after he is ousted from law enforcement (loses a rank and thus pension shrinks) we follow him into the school system where he offers an alternative class for those that have been left behind. Bunny is arguably one of the best persons in the show as far as morality goes. His risk with Hamsterdamn aside, he showed initiative and a deep affection for the people in his city, so much that he risked his career and retirement money on it (and lost his private sector security gig, goodbye 6 figures). In the fourth season, Bunny creates and alternative path for middle school students who are so far left behind that they're dragging the rest of the class down. Here we meet Namond Brice, the son of Barksdale soldier Wee-Bay, who is every teachers waking nightmare. Much like his Hamsterdam experiment, this new class is being disruptive by the higher ups who would rather "teach the test" than give these kids any valuable life training. In a touching fashion, Namond abandons his dreams of slinging dope on the corners like his dad (who sits behind bars in a life sentence) and moves in with Bunny, becoming his stepson. This is a man who doesn't play by the rules, and we love him for it.

I'm currently getting my masters in Writing and Publishing in Chicago. I usually fill my time with marathoning great television. My favorite shows are The Sopranos, Mad Men, Six Feet Under, Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Wire, Lost, and so much more. Count on me to write mainly about television.
