True Blood: 10 Answers We Must Get In The Final Season

10. What's The Deal With Hep V?

The last third of season six's final episode of season six gave viewers a glance at the long-term effects of the Burrell era and the vampire pandemic it spawned. Show producers have described the Hep V infected undead as not zombified but driven by a virus-induced need for blood. Watching them descend upon Merlotte€™s Bar as the season faded to black, we can understand they are fully conscious and organised, yet demented with fevered need. Several questions arise. Exactly how does Hep V affect vampires? How fast is it spreading and how does it progress symptoms-wise? The answers to these questions will surely play out in the end game and are important to the outcome of the overall story. With only ten episodes remaining, the pandemic forms the background conditions against which character threads are played out and the conclusion that follows will most likely leave us with a sense of aftermath and rebuilding. True Blood is poised to give itself a rousing conclusion filled with its trademark sex, blood, and rock and roll, and after a few wondering seasons and unmemorable plot lines, the infection-driven final season seems more focused with story and intention than it has in a very long time. The Hepatitis V virus will hopefully be the thread that draws together all of the show€™s scattered plotlines and characters, and questions into the nature and progress of the disease are important concerns for the resolution of the story.
