True Blood: 20 Defining Moments

8. Russell's On-Air Announcement, Season 3, Episode 9

It wasn't hard to figure out that Russell Edgington was a little cooky. The oldest vampire we've seen on the show was quickly portrayed as dangerous and someone who would stop at nothing to get what he wanted. But after Eric took revenge on Russell (who killed Eric's entire human family over some goats) by staking his lover Talbot, it became clear that Russell was flat out insane. The act of vengeance caused Russell to lose his s--t and rip out the spine of a newscaster on live TV. He then declared that mainstreaming was bullshit and vampires would eat everyone and their children. Although this was a great moment in itself, having it at the end of the episode was a wise choice. It was jaw-dropping to see Russell make his threatening announcement to the world, bloody spine in hand. In typical Edgington fashion, he ended his speech on a comedic note: "Now time for the weather. Tiffany?"

7. I'm a Faerie?, Season 3, Episode 10

trueblood-finale-6_105850821 The long-awaited answer to "What is Sookie?" wasn't exciting, but it was satisfying. After almost three seasons, Bill finally told Sookie why she had the ability to read minds, shoot light out of her fingers and why she smelled and tasted amazing to vampires. She was a faerie. The actual reveal wasn't anything big but hey, we didn't have to keep wondering what the hell Sookie was anymore. We also got this line from Sookie, which is what we all were probably thinking: "I'm a faerie? How f--king lame." We'd already been introduced to faeries before they were revealed to be faeries and it was good to know that they were added to the show for a reason. Unfortunately, the faerie plots have been some of the show's weakest. However, when faeries revealed to the Stackhouse siblings in season 5 that their parents were killed by vampires, things got a bit more interesting. Going into to season 6, we know that Sookie was promised to a vampire named Warlow because she's a faerie hybrid. Warlow will presumably be one of the main stories in season 6. We can only hope this creates a more interesting relationship between faeries and vampires.
