True Blood: 20 Defining Moments

10. Introduction of Werewolves, Season 3, Episode 1sookie-alcide-e1311771249799 Season 3 introduced many new supernatural creatures to the show, but none were more important than the werewolves. The werewolves had their strongest storyline in season 3 when they served as Russell Edgington's (Denis O'Hare) V-addicted pets and did all of his dirty work. Most importantly, the werewolf introduction also brought on a third love interest for Sookie in the form of Alcide (Joe Manganiello). Many fans were happy to see a new piece of eye candy on screen, and many were happier to know that Alcide would almost always be naked. Because, you know, werewolves. While the werewolf subplots haven't been that strong in recent seasons, the introduction of another permanent supernatural group allowed for the show's universe to expand. The fact that real wolf-dogs are used in the show is also a plus. Let's hope that Alcide's new packmaster status in season 6 makes the weres a little bit more interesting.

9. Head-Turning Sex, Season 3, Episode 3

original_06 "True Blood" is known for controversial and taboo sex scenes, many of which are explicit, violent and bloody. However, none have come close to the scene where Bill has violent reluctant sex with Lorena (Mariana Klaveno). Bill's sadistic and obsessive maker kept showing up to make things worse for him, especially when he was already in a dilemma of his own. This time, Bill was in a sticky situation with Russell who at the time, was the vampire King of Mississippi. When Lorena showed up, Bill couldn't take it anymore and succumbed to her malicious advances. In one of the show's hardest scenes to watch, Bill literally twisted Lorena's head 180 degrees while violently having sex with her. The act symbolized Bill's hatred for his maker and showed that Lorena was still the one in control.
