True Blood Final Season: 10 Favourite Characters Who Could Die
10. Maxine Fortenberry
Some characters you love to hate, others you hate to love. Kicking off this list is one character who brings it all to the table: Maxine Fortenberry, Hoyts cranky and comically bitter mother. Maxine is racist, prejudiced, and she claims to hate, among other things: vampires, Methodists, Catholics, dogs, cats, ladies who wear red shoes (they look cheap) and, most importantly, every girl who has ever tried to romance her son, Hoyt. Fearful of losing her only son, she is overprotective to a dangerous degree. The last we saw of the widow Fortenberry in Season Six, she was on her good behavior, offering a seat to Sookie at Terrys funeral and swooning at Alcede. There are several reasons why Maxine is a good candidate for the gallows. First, a change of heart is always a good way to die in contemporary television and Maxine's sympathetic turn may very well serving her by leading her six-feet under in some shocking way; a visceral demise due to some wrong she had done earlier in the series. Also, though she remains a recurring character of peripheral importance to the overall story, she is the only such character to have appeared at least once in every season. This gives her enough familiarity to have an impact as collateral fodder in the fray. Maxine, as a source of malicious comic relief, has become a love-hate fan favorite who is just ripe for the grim reapers taking.
