The biggest criticism aimed at season 1 was the poor portrayal of female characters. Whether that argument was valid or not, its something thats being addressed in the second season. Ani Bezzerides will be one of the main characters, a Ventura County Sheriffs detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves. It certainly sounds like an interesting role, regardless of gender, and indicates that shell be at the very heart of the show and the primary protagonist of the season, although one not without her own moral complexities. More cause for optimism comes with the fact that Bezzerides will be played by Rachel McAdams. Shes generally good in whatever shes been in, but this type of role will really push her out of the comfort zone, and thats something thats going to be really exciting to see.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
