True Detective Season 3: Everything You Need To Know
Release date, trailers, cast, and more info for the return of HBO's True Detective.
Time is a flat circle. Exactly five years and one day after the first episode of True Detective aired, Season 3 is set to debut on HBO and attempt to replicate the success found by the series in its Matthew McConaughey & Woody Harrelson-starring debut run.
Sandwiched in between, of course, was the disappointing second season that almost killed the show off for good. Rushed into production on the back of the internet-breaking, Reddit-frenzying response to the first season, True Detective Season 2 failed to spark in the same way, and the series has lain dormant since it concluded in August 2015.
Almost four years on, then, creator Nic Pizzolatto is ready to fix the past with yet another timeline-jumping mystery, which will begin its eight-episode run on January 13. He's recruited yet another A-lister to help with the task, this time in the form of the reliably brilliant Oscar-winner, Mahershala Ali. Only time - what else? - will tell as to whether Pizzolatto has managed to put things right, but the early signs are extremely promising, and here's everything you need to know before True Detective's Season 3 premiere.
