As it's a sequel, Frost explains that he and Lynch intend to incorporate a lot of references and narrative arcs that will appeal to long-time fans of the show. They're both grateful for the ongoing support of Twin Peaks diehards. However, they also want new fans to "come to the party as well", and will be providing enough signposts and novel material/mysteries to excite first-time viewers. Oh, and they plan to offer satisfying, comprehensive endings, both in relation to the cliffhangers of Season 2 ("when you see it, you'll know" says Frost) and with regard to the conclusion of these new episodes, while maintaining the ambiguities and openness of the original series.
