Twin Peaks: The Return Premiere Review: 7 Ups & 4 Downs

1. The Legacy Cast Hasn't Missed A Step

Though the legacy cast have appeared only intermittently so far, it's safe to say that they slip effortlessly back into their roles. Thankfully, most of the principal original cast members have aged incredibly well, so there's little need to wince at how badly the actors have let themselves go (and Andy's balloon gut is played steadily for laughs).

Kyle MacLachlan leads the cast, of course, with a fantastic reprise of Cooper (and others) that takes the character to fascinating new places, while the likes of Andy, Lucy, Hawk, Bobby and Laura and Leland Palmer feel like natural continuations from the last time we saw them.

Even several characters whose actors are sadly no longer with us, such as The Log Lady (Catherine E. Coulson) and Agent Rosenfeld (Miguel Ferrer), make appearances, ensuring that The Return feels like one of the most mind-bogglingly complete TV revivals of all time. And a huge chunk of the original cast hasn't even shown up yet.

What do you make of Twin Peaks: The Return so far? Shout it out in the comments!
