Ultimate Spider-Man: 5 Reasons You Should be Watching

1. It Still Has a Lot of Potential

If you watch the last few episodes of the first season, you know that this show can accomplish some great things. When the show sticks to Spider-Man fighting his famous enemies, and Peter Parker dealing with real life situations, the show is tremendous. Drake Bell does a wonderful job of voicing Spider-Man, as does the rest of the cast with their respective parts, which includes J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. I would be remiss not praise the writers who do a great job of keeping the majority of the episodes self-contained while still maintaining a season length story arc. It€™s a wise tactic that allows new viewers to jump into the show while keeping regular viewers tuning in. And that€™s what it€™s really all about, getting new viewers into the world of Spider-Man and the Marvel Universe. The 90€™s animated series was for me when I was growing up, just as Ultimate Spider-Man is for another generation to enjoy. The show hasn€™t re-invented Spider-Man; it€™s re-invented the way we watch Spider-Man. I think it€™s a unique and interesting take and one that deserves some consideration. My hope is that the second season keeps the focus on Spider-Man and his famous villains. The second season€™s first three episodes are titled The Lizard, Electro, and The Rhino so I€™m happy. If they can keep the tone they€™ve created and add the gravitas of the first season€™s final episodes, then the next generation of Spider-Man fans will have a tremendous show that they can remember fondly.
