Umbrella Academy: 10 Things Season 2 Must Include

2. An Even Better Soundtrack

Season One of The Umbrella Academy had an utterly brilliant soundtrack, with some legendary songs and few guilty pleasures to show how it never took itself seriously. I Think We’re Alone Now in the first episode is the perfect example of that, though that was much clever than many gave it credit for.

The dance break let us get to know each of the Academy without the need for words, and showed their lack of respect, even resentment, for Reginald, despite returning for his funeral.

It’s strange, given that comic books are an entirely silent medium, that it was the soundtrack which somehow made the show the most ‘comic booky’ of all the elements. The song choice was always note perfect, and made the scenes feel utterly alive.

Everything from Nina Simone to The Kinks to Paloma Faith to Prince to Radiohead gets rotation in Season One, throwing down the gauntlet to Season Two. The comic’s original writer, Gerard Way, even had a few songs in there.

With his iconic emo band My Chemical Romance recently announcing a reunion, could we even get some new material from the band in the next season?
