Once Upon A Time: 10 Characters We Need To See In Season 4 (And Who Should Play Them)
7. Sherlock Holmes
Who They Are: Sherlock Holmes, the character who has seen a stunning resurgence thanks to the BBC show starring Benedict Cumberbatch and the film series by Warner Bros. that features Robert Downey Jr., is a character that would bring something very unique to the Once landscape. In that he's not so much a character unto himself, as he is an archetype, a legendary figure of literature that nearly has no equal. Sherlock would be an excellent fit into the world of Once Upon a Time, as he is someone they could completely reinvent in their own unique way. He's no stranger to drastic restructuring, as numerous writers have spun their own trademark vision of London's greatest detective. From the Basil Rathbone films to the modern day upgrade he saw in CBS' Elementary, Sherlock is prime reboot material. And it's difficult to imagine the Once producers not having the time of their life by bringing Mr. Holmes to Storybrooke. Who Should Play Them:
He recently appeared in the latest James Bond film, Skyfall, where he gave life to another iconic British character in Q, and there's no doubt that Benjamin Whishaw was born to play Sherlock Holmes on Once. There were rumors of Holmes appearing in season two of the series that never came to pass, which makes now the perfect time to make good on it. His quirky, naturalistic acting style and proper awkwardness, all in the best possible way, give him the ultimate edge to bring Mr. Holmes into the Once family. Whishaw has a unique wit about him, along with a perky sense of snarkiness. Just for one moment, imagine Holmes teaming up with Charming on a case, using his trademark skills of deduction to outwit the former Prince. The potential for comedic banter between Josh Dallas' Charming and Whishaw's Holmes is tantalizing, and altogether too perfect to pass up.
