7. Forced Himself On Aslaug

In Ragnar's quest to create an undying legacy for himself, he often overlooked the feelings and warnings given by those he loved.

His second wife, Aslaug, was a deeply spiritual woman who believed herself to be a descendant of the great Norse hero Sigurd. Often called a witch behind her back, she correctly predicted many of the events following her arrival in the show.

Once while her husband was raiding in Wessex, she had a vision that should Ragnar return and force himself upon her then they would have another son and that he would be a monster.

Ragnar did eventually return, and in his lust and greed took Aslaug despite her pleading not to and warning him. As the prophecy foretold, she became pregnant with another son, Ivar, who was born without the use of his legs. Ragnar took the boy out into the woods to be left for dead, only for his mother to rescue the crying child.

As it turned out, the prophecy did not mean a monster physically, but rather Ivar would grow to become excessively violent and cruel. The squabbles of Ragnar's sons would lead to countless deaths, all because of their father's ignorance.
