Vikings: 12 Most Brutal Moments So Far
10. A Priest Is Used For Archery Practice
We know that Vikings are not fans of Christians, especially priests, so it's inevitable that we'd see some of that manifest as brutal treatment of their enemy.
After sacking a village in Wessex Floki discovers a priest and brings him to the main hall where all the other Vikings are. As they begin to strip the priest and tie him to a pillar you know he's in for a rough time.
Shockingly, they then begin to have some fun by taking turns using a bow and arrow to shoot at the priest without killing him. The priest takes five arrows and continues to pray until King Horik orders his son to shoot an arrow in his mouth to silence his prayers.
Athelstan decides to take matters into his own hands and end the priests misery by slicing his throat. Even the act of mercy had to be brutal since Athelstan knew he could not let the priest go.
