10. Beth Greene Won't Return...

Although Beth initially stood at the periphery of the main cast, the writers invested a huge amount of time and effort in developing Beth's character during Season 5, making her one of the standout cast members by the mid-season finale. Unfortunately, Beth met her untimely end during the final confrontation at the Grady Memorial Hospital after attacking Dawn with scissors. That's the end of the road for Beth then, right? Since the mid-season finale aired, outraged fans have petitioned the shows producers to bring Beth back, arguing that a number of potentially interesting story arcs have now been wasted and that her death was only used as a way to further Daryl's story line. The petition has currently gone viral, gaining thousands of signatures. Die-hard fans are even sending the producers wooden spoons with the characters quotes written on in reference to an earlier episode featuring Beth. Even in a world where the dead return to life, it's impossible to imagine that the show-runners would buckle to public pressure and bring Beth back, as this would undermine the dramatic tension of everything that has come before and would make audiences question other events of this kind in the future. The best that hardcore Beth fans can hope for is perhaps a brief appearance in zombie form, although this too remains unlikely, as Daryl and the other survivors would refuse to let one of their loved ones return as a walker.
