The Walking Dead: 10 Predictions For The Rest Of Season 5

4. Alexandria Safe-Zone

If the producers stick to the chronology of the original source material, Rick's group will next head to the Alexandria Safe-Zone, a settlement of cleared streets that stands about six miles away from Washington D.C. This occurred in the comics immediately after Eugene revealed that he was a fraud, but Rick and Abraham's group were both together at this point, so there remains a chance that the show-runners may diverge even further away from the original storyline. The arrival of Rick's group in the comics temporarily causes chaos for the inhabitants of the Alexandria Safe-Zone, leading their commander Douglas to give up his authority and hand the reigns over to Rick once they've finished repelling the numerous invaders. Giving Rick large-scale authority once again could have one of two effects; holding responsibility for so many people could either remind him of his humanity, helping him to scale down his new harsh world-view or, conversely, the pressure could push everyone's favourite sheriff the other way, moulding him into a mirror image of the Governor as he continues to make the tough decisions no one else is willing to make. In the comics, the survivors end up living at the Alexandria Safe-Zone for almost three years, making this settlement the longest lasting location Rick's group have ever stayed in. This in itself could create new dynamics for the survivors as they begin to settle down and build roots, although it's unlikely the show-runners will want to stay there for quite as long, considering the potential for monotony. It sure would save money on set design though!
