In "Tell It To The Frogs," we see the conclusion of Rick's quest to reunite with his wife and son. He stumbles upon more than he bargained for in a gang of misfit survivors on the outskirts of Atlanta, and he must find his place as a contributing member of this new group while still keeping a handle on what he knows needs to be done. "Tell It To The Frogs" is fairly short on plot, working more as a transition episode between Rick's journey to find his family and the more focused drama of the rest of the season. Nevertheless, the lightness of plot is entirely compensated for by the introduction and expansion on characters. We officially meet the world's worst lookout in Dale Horvath, the man most deserving of a zombie bite in Ed Peletier, his meek wife Carol, the youthful Amy...oh, and some guy named Daryl. We also get closer looks at the previously introduced Shane, Lori, Carl, Andrea, and T-Dog. This episode may not be the most essential to understanding the series as a whole, but it at least allows audiences to get to know the characters and actually care about them when they inevitably start dying off.
Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
