The Walking Dead: 11 Best Introductory Episodes

6. "Beside The Dying Fire" (Season 2, Episode 13)

Season 2 was a tumultuous ride for characters and viewers alike. Still, by the end of the season, life on the farm where the Atlanta survivors had found a tentative sanctuary with the Greene family was finally looking up. So, of course, everything had to go to hell in the finale. "Beside The Dying Fire" takes everything that had been positive and hopeful about the season and turns it on its head, devastating the group and thinning the ranks. Secrets are revealed, and everything that the characters have come to expect from their lives at the farm are rocked to the core. Of the 19 episodes that had aired to this point, "Beside The Dying Fire" was undoubtedly the most game-changing. Any sense of stasis that had begun to stagnate in the second half of Season 2 is irrevocably destroyed. There is no going back from this point, and the characters are all set on new paths that promise great--and probably heartbreaking--things for Season 3. Also, a new character gets what is probably the coolest introduction of the entire series, including Daryl's from "Tell It to the Frogs."
