The Walking Dead: 15 Best Zombie Kills (So Far)
10. The Barn Shooting Gallery ("Pretty Much Dead Already")
In the mid-season finale of Season two, the revelation that Hershel had been keeping Walkers in the barn adjacent to where Rick's freeloading group has been camping was the final straw for Shane's fragile grip on sanity. Rejected by Lori and in a crazed--although somewhat justified--rebellion against Rick's leadership, Shane arms the rest of the group and breaks the lock off of the barn. Caught up in his frenzy, Daryl, Andrea, T-Dog, and Glenn join Shane in taking down Walker after Walker as they shamble out. The gunfire finally stops when it seems that all of the zombies have been taken out, but they suddenly hear the dragging tread of a Walker that could not possibly weigh very much... Why It's Great: Shane wasn't wrong in his argument. The people in the barn were dead, they were not coming back to life, and it was dangerous to keep them so close to where others were living. His protests were valid. What was wrong, however, was the fact that he ripped open the barn and led most of the rest of the group in firing on the Walkers in front of Hershel. These Walkers had been friends and relatives of the Greenes, all of whom believed that the zombies were still people...and all of whom were present and forced to watch as Shane and Co. mowed down their loved ones. It's an amazing scene...and it's not over.
