11. Daryl Recycles ("Chupacabra") "Chupacabra" is not a happy showing for Daryl. By the midpoint of the episode, he has been thrown by a horse, fallen down a cliff, landed in a stagnant pond, been impaled through the side with his only remaining crossbow bolt, tied a bandage around the bolt in his side rather than risk pulling it out on his own, climbed halfway up the cliff, fallen back down again, smacked his head on some rocks, hallucinated his abusive older brother, and passed out. When he wakes, he finds a Walker gnawing on his bloody boot and a second staggering toward him. Instead of doing what I would do and passing right back out again, he grabs a branch and pounds it into the closer Walker's face until its skull caves in. As the second Walker approaches, Daryl rips the bolt out of his side--the feathery end going through his flesh--to load his crossbow, draws back the string with great effort, and shoots the Walker in the head. Why It's Great: He heads out from the safety of the farm alone, optimistic about his chances of finding the missing Sophia. Instead, he survives an ordeal that would kill lesser folks, then hikes all the way back to the farm on foot, only to be mistaken for a Walker and shot in the head. Poor Daryl. At least he found a doll.
