The Walking Dead 5.4 Review - 5 Talking Points From "Slabtown"
4. Gorman, The Ladies Man
In just a few short moments, The Walking Dead managed to give us one of the thinnest, most transparent characters weve seen on television in quite some time. This Gorman guy was basically just Officer Rapey McRaperson, there to serve as the reason why Grady Hospital was such a horrific place to be, otherwise we would have been hard-pressed for a reason why Beth was so hell-bent on leaving. That scene with the lollipop was one of the most uncomfortable things ever and had us cringing in our seats, hoping for this dudes head to meet the sharp end of an arrow fired from a crossbow. When Gorman cornered Beth in that office, we knew something unsavory was about to go down. Beth set it up well enough, playing the hapless victim who was powerless to resist the big strong man, and then broadsided his skull with a glass bottle and turned him into walker food. It was a mercy killing for the viewers, because had we been forced to endure additional episodes featuring this character we would have gotten bored quick.
