The Walking Dead 5.4 Review - 5 Talking Points From "Slabtown"

3. Dr. Kevorkian

Through some exposition on the rooftop, we were able to learn what happened in downtown Atlanta, how the city was bombed and thousands of evacuees were killed. We got a nice shot of the decrepit skyline, showing the devastation that befell the southern metropolis, and it was our first venture into an urban area since early in the first season. Despite all the strangeness that surrounded him in the hospital, the resident physician, Dr. Edwards, seemed to be one of the more stable people in the entire compound. He gave the impression as someone who wasn€™t terribly happy with the structure of things, but did his part to make the best of the situation and help people as well as he could, prioritizing and allocating medical resources efficiently. But in this world, everyone has a secret, and for the good doctor, his was his fear of no longer being irreplaceable. Having someone skilled in the medical field is one of the most essential assets for any group of survivors, and when a second doctor came along, threatening Edwards€™ value to the hospital, the doc used Beth as an unwitting assassin to eliminate his competition, proving that the one relatively normal seeming person amidst a staff of weirdos, incompetents and savages turned out to be just another member of the bunch.
