The Walking Dead 5.6 Review - 5 Talking Points From Consumed
3. A Brief Trip In A Van
During their recon of Atlanta, Daryl spots a van off in the distance with the same white crosses emblazoned on the black windows as the vehicles they've been tracking. The now weaponless duo sets off a trek across the city to investigate the van, and during their inspection they get overwhelmed by a swarm of walkers. After a valiant attempt to fight them off, they get swarmed and their only remaining recourse was to seek shelter in the van. Only one problem: the van is teetering on the edge of the bridge, about to crash to the ground below. As the horde of zombies batter the ouwetside of the vehicle, Daryl and Carol brace themselves for the inevitable, strapping on their seatbelts. The van is pushed over the edge and they drop several stories to the ground below (miraculously landing upright) relatively injury-free. Daryl, being the chivalrous guy he is, remains in the driver's seat where he can enjoy the protection of the airbag, leaving Carol to fend for herself. It was probably unintentional but it was humorous. It's been said this a lot this season, but kudos to the show-runners for finding yet another creative way of creating zombie-induced peril rather than the typical hack and slash.
