The Walking Dead: 5 Things Self Help Did Right (And 5 It Didn't)

3. Exploring Relationships

The pace of Slabtown was a significant shift from the break neck speed this season of The Walking Dead opened with, and Self Help takes that even further. Not a whole lot happened. Well, some pretty dramatic things happened, but they served to punctuate an episode which, for the most part, was just long stretches of the characters hanging out and planning their next moves. Abraham, Eugene and Rosita are fairly recent additions to the ensemble, yet they were front and centre of Self Help, and the timing of that was perfect. Whilst that trio of rag-tag, slightly larger-than-life survivors definitely made their presence known when they rocked up towards the end of last season, there hasn't been chance to see how they fit in with the other members of the group. This episode gave them some breathing room to explore that, with Abraham reaching a sort of glowing respect for the perpetually cool-headed Glenn, and the little chat between Maggie and Eugene (where she referenced Samson€™s riddle, one of the few clunky bits of dialogue this week) was rather sweet as well.
