The Walking Dead: 5 Things Self Help Did Right (And 5 It Didn't)

2. A Smidge Of Happiness

That all adds up to something which has been missing from The Walking Dead from the beginning. Which is totally fair, because it's something that€™s most likely been missing from the fictional universe that The Walking Dead takes place in, too: happiness. Or hope, as people have been banging on about for a while now. Whilst people are scraping by an existence in this new world, it€™s not something to smile about. There very rarely appears to be light at the end of the tunnel, and a whole lot of obstacles to get to it. Strangely, Self Help opens with the characters seeming almost contented. Half the bus is coupled up, and the other half are nattering away like old pals on a field trip. They barely even comment on the swarms of walkers they pass by on the roadside. Whilst Eugene€™s promise of a possible cure for the zombie plague turned out to be boohockey, there was still a hopeful note in the strong bonds (and walker-slaying skills) the group possess. Right?
