3. Pacing

Now, as great as it was to have some progression, the execution could have been handled much more smoothly. Too many things happened in too little time. It's actually not entirely the fault of this episode; its placement in the second half of the season dictated that it was going to be overly condensed. The episode felt as though the writers very suddenly realized that they were running out of time in Season 4 and still had a handful of boxes to check off before going into the finale (and only one hour left to do it all). Details that could have been great were lost in the rush to finish everything off. Rick, Carl, and Michonne are undoubtedly going to play huge roles in the finale; they had not been seen in several weeks, however, and they would need a scene to establish that they do in fact exist on the show. Rick, Carl, and Michonne? Check. Two minutes on screen. Everybody except for Daryl and Beth has been struggling toward Terminus for the past six episodes and somebody needed to finally make it? Check. Both Glenn and Maggie were set on reuniting or dying in the attempt? Tara needed a place in the group after her quest with Glenn was completed? Abraham, Eugene, and Rosita needed an excuse to stall their trip to Washington for a little while longer? Check, check, and check. And then there was this other guy who had a whole new plot foisted onto him, which brings us to...
