The Walking Dead: 6 Things That "Us" Did Right (And 3 It Didn't)
1. Progress
The second portion of Season 4 has been markedly different from any other period in the series thus far, and the shift from a focus on action to character development has received mixed reviews from fans. The quality of each individual episode has generally been good, but the half-season overall has felt somewhat stagnant. The characters have faced crises of conscience and experienced catharses and confessed sins, but not a lot actually happened to advance the plot. There were emotional breakthroughs aplenty and they were great but nobody seemed to be getting anywhere. With the season winding down and only two episodes left, we needed some real progression. Fortunately, "Us" delivered. Rick, Carl, and Michonne have left the suburbs and are on the way to Terminus. Daryl is unwittingly hunting his friends as Joe and Co. chase the man who killed one of their own. Glenn and Maggie reunited. Maggie wore Daryl's poncho. Two groups became one and then actually reached Terminus. It wasn't the most exciting episode of the show, but it resolved hanging storylines and set the stage for the upcoming finale. Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
