The Walking Dead: Hershel’s 11 Most Badass Acts

1. Hershel Survives A Walker Bite

Walking Dead Hershel Crutches And he€™s the only character to do it! In €˜Seed€™ (S3 E01), Hershel€™s leg is bitten by a walker; luckily, Rick acts fast and amputates the leg without anesthetic. Since then, Hershel€™s limped along while everyone else has been able to outrun walkers at a moments notice. When in danger, the motto has always been €œrun or kill,€ but Hershel can€™t run. Just day-to-day survival gadding about on crutches has been a badass act for Hershel. In the universe of The Walking Dead, it€™s hard to find a reason to live. But Hershel€™s determined to build a life worth living for everyone around him, especially for his daughters. Sure, everyone€™s infected and doomed to turn when they die, but Hershel wears this on his sleeve. Or on his pant leg, more accurately. He works hard to make every moment meaningful, and it inspires a great number of his badass acts. Obviously the situation's a little different now he's got an artificial foot, but again €“ it's not a real foot. He won't be wearing sandals any time soon, nor will he be participating in the 100 metre dash. But still, he keeps going and sticks himself in harms' way. If there's one thing I want you to take away from this article, it's this €“ Hershel€™s a badass, so don€™t forget it. When someone tells you Daryl, Rick, or Michonne is the biggest badass on The Walking Dead, just crack out this list and tell them otherwise. He's basically like the expert-level character of a game €“ he's not a katana-wielding, crossbow-shooting, revolver-toting survivalist who's got all the physical advantages, as that would be too easy. He's an old, pot-bellied farmer amputee, yet despite these handicaps, he still isn't slouching in the zombie apocalypse. Hershel€™s barely got a leg to stand on, so he needs your help to defend his badass honour. If you have anything to add to the list or something seems out of order, let me know in the comment section below!
