The Walking Dead Season 4 Finale: 10 Things That Must Happen

8. Rick and Carl Will Be Reconciled With Judith

An empty crib was Rick and Carl's worst nightmare after the attack on the prison, and they have continued through the rest of the season under the assumption that Judith is definitely dead. However, Tyreese has managed to keep little, defenceless Judith alive this whole time, despite a few close calls. While still on the run from the prison with Tyreese and her little sister Mika, Lizzie nearly suffocated Judith when she tried to keep her from crying in the forest and attracting walker attention. Then, when Carol finds Tyreese and the three girls, they discover a place to stay for a few days. Here, Judith is again almost killed by Lizzie after she has already heartbreakingly killed her younger sister, unable to understand that the walkers are not humans anymore and they cannot interact with her. It has been difficult for Rick and Carl to cope with what they think is the loss of Judith, but it is more than likely that they will be reunited with her at Terminus since Tyreese and Carol have decided to travel there following the tragic loss of Lizzie and Mika. Discovering that Judith is still alive will no doubt be an emotional moment on the show, but the effect that it could have on Rick and Carl may be extremely important as well. Carl has been attempting to show his dad that he is capable of holding his own against the walkers, but as we saw when Rick was unconscious and Carl had to fight off the walkers by himself, he still allows his emotions to distract him from making good decisions. Having his baby sister back in his life could give him a renewed strength and motivate him to protect her at all costs, forcing him to mature and stop some of his childish behaviour, like defying Rick's commands. Rick would probably benefit even more from being reunited with his daughter, having experienced so much loss in his life and having the added pressure and responsibility of being the group's leader. At times, he has been delusional and incapable of making the correct decisions for the benefit of the group, but like Carl, having Judith back in his life would give him a new focus and determination.
