9. Who Do The Candles Burn For?

One of the most enduring rumours about the finale is that we will see the arrival of Gabriel, the priest from the comics. The preview for the show featured a fleeting glimpse of a room filled with candles, and there was something decidedly religious about the set-up. Gabriel doesn't necessarily have to be in Terminus, as the presence of a priest would sit too jarringly with the idea of the place as a fresh Hell, so the most fitting revelation would be that it was he who took Beth, perhaps believing that he was saving her when he took her. The logical progression of this idea suggests that Rick will encounter Gabriel on the way to Terminus, who will tell him the secrets of the sanctuary, just as the rest of the survivors make it there and see it first hand. Rick could be compelled to go and save/warn his group, and find himself in the middle of a maelstrom, with the survivors, Joe's Claimers and the Terminus baddies all facing off.
