The Walking Dead Season 4: Ranking The First 8 Episodes

2. Internment (Episode 5)

18 What can I say about this episode? It's awesome, is what I can say about it. The team up between Rick and Carl when the fences come down at the prison (with Carl actually saving Rick's ass a fair few times), as well as the internal struggle of the prison's growing infection, Maggie's choice to not just stand by and instead take action within the infected area of the prison. The stand-out performance of the episode though, goes to the ever-lovable Hershel Greene, played by Scott Wilson. This humble God-loving veterinarian goes from just that to a true hero, somehow finding it within himself to keep the violence away from the children (almost at the cost of his own life), care for the sick and making sure none of them die (failed slightly in that regard, all sorts of red shirts bite the dust), again at the near risk of his life. This man survives through thick and thin against all odds, and his faith in anything including but not exclusive to humanity, religion and hope. The Emmys are too snooty to allow a zombie show to even be nominated, but if it is, by God, Scott Wilson's the man to do it. Oh, and at the end, The Governor reappears. Surprise! 17 It was a close call between this and the next entry on our list, so click "next" to see which episode is number one (as if it wasn't obvious already)!
