The Walking Dead Season 5: 10 Things We Learned From The New Trailer
1. There's Always Time For Prayer
One aspect of life in the post-apocalyptic world of The Walking Dead that has largely gone unaddressed in recent years is the role of religion in the lives of many, particularly for those living in the South. Its hard to blame them for any lapses of faith; as Hershel said in the Season 2 finale, the Biblical resurrection of the dead has not proven to be quite what the pious expected at the end of days, and the survivors of the Greene family have proved to be the only people left who bother much with prayer.
It is therefore somewhat surprising that the Season 5 trailer features not only the images of a church, but of a cowering priest as well. One shot of the church features both Judith and Darylif not Carolinside, indicating that the church sojourn will occur after the reunion but before the group splits up again. Will the good father have new information to impart on the survivors? Does the chapel visit occur for spiritual guidance, or for more practical reasons? Will everybody get drunk off of consecrated wine and burn the place down?
Only time will tell.
