WandaVision: 5 Vision Comics Marvel Fans Need To Read

4. Avengers #57 & 58

The Vision Tom King
Marvel Comics

As is well-known by fans, Vision was created by Ultron as a weapon against the Avengers. Vision first confronts the team in Avengers #57. After explaining who he is, and who sent him, The Vision leads the team into a trap at Ultron's hideout. However, the synthezoid soon finds himself having a change of heart, and faces off against his creator to save the Avengers.

By the following issue, The Vision has decided he wants to join the team. After putting the synthezoid through a series of tests, The Avengers grant The Vision membership, and, to everyone's surprise, he is overcome with emotion, beginning to cry. Avengers #58 also has the team discovering that a tape of the deceased Avenger Wonder Man's memories is missing, leading to the reveal that The Vision was created with Wonder Man's brain patterns. This likely contributed to Vision's decision to save the team in #57.

Even now, over five decades after his introduction, Vision's outpouring of emotion at becoming an Avenger remains one of the character's most iconic moments, resulting in the iconic quote:

"Even an Android can cry!"
