Westworld: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

13. Hector Escaton

Westworld Characters
HBO

Westworld's resident badass cowboy, Hector Escaton is nothing more than a stereotype.

This makes sense within the context of the show. Westworld is a theme park meant to feel like a classic Western, so it's necessary for certain stereotypical figures to appear. Just as Dolores is a classic damsel in distress and Maeve the witty madam, Hector is the infamous outlaw. But the problem is that's all Hector has going on.

Hector's presence in the show is logical and necessary, but its not anything special. Whereas Dolores breaks free of her stereotypes and Maeve has a compelling plot that isn't limited by her role in the park's narrative, Hector is just and outlaw that does outlaw things. He doesn't go through any journey or change in any way; he's just a flatline.

Sure he does some cool things along the way, and yes his escape with Maeve is loads of fun, but Hector is a plot device first, character second.
