Westworld Season 1: 7 Ups And 3 Downs From 'Chestnut'

Ups...

7. Jimmi Simpson Is A Great Addition

Westworld William Angela
HBO

While Westworld did a good job of populating the park with interesting characters in the premiere episode (both human and A.I. alike), it finds room for a few more this week.

The standout of these is William, played by Jimmi Simpson. The actor is no stranger to prestige dramas, having done some solid character work in House of Cards and The Newsroom over the last few years, and he easily slots into the Westworld cast as a man experiencing the park for the first time.

Arriving with his buddy Logan (Ben Barnes), he's immediately captivated by everything the park has to offer. Simpson brings a real earnest sensibility to the character, and he's affable, naive, and easily likeable.

We get a few good scenes with him here, which serve as a nice introduction to the character, and while it would've been simple for Westworld to stick with the already existing characters for the second episode, it's a good move to bring William in here, with the potential for more to come in future instalments.
