Westworld Season 1: 7 Ups And 3 Downs From 'Chestnut'

6. Bernard And Dolores Are An Excellent Pairing

Westworld Dolores

One of the standout scenes of the first episode was a conversation between Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) and Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood). They're two of the strongest characters in these early stages, and the examination that took place showcased strong performances from both actors, and helped build on the mystery of the show.

It's no real surprise, then, that we get another similar scene between the pair here. It's not quite as good as the first one, and is a little too brief, but it's still a very enjoyable scene. Of all the character pairings put together so far, this is one that really shines. You really get the sense from Bernard that he cares about Dolores beyond just doing his job, while from her point of view it's still difficult to know when she's telling the truth and when she's lying. It's a relatively small scene, but one that feels important and carries plenty of weight thanks to the performances and what we already know of these characters, helping to further sow the seeds of something going wrong.
