Westworld Season 2: 10 Biggest Twists, Theories & Questions From 'Journey Into Night'

2. What Is The Door?

Westworld Man In Black

Much like the first season of Westworld was all about The Maze, this year is centred around - and even subtitled - The Door. But, er, what exactly is it?

We don't explicitly find out, but thanks to Ford we know that it's central to the new game he's created just for the Man in Black. Whereas the Maze was Arnold's creation that William came upon, this is a new game just for him. As Ford says:

"That’s what I always appreciated about you. You never rested on your laurels. You made it to the centre of Arnold’s maze. But now, you’re in my game. In this game, you have to make it back out. In this game, you must find the door. Congratulations William, the game is meant for you. The game begins at the end, and ends where it began."

Later, he states: "Don’t worry, the game will find you."

Ford's new narrative was the robot uprising, which Dolores is leading. So it seems likely that it's directly connected to this new game for William, and the line "ends where it began" suggests a reunion between Dolores and William, since she is where the Man in Black began. It also indicates a chance to leave the park, which might be Ford's ultimate goal - to set the hosts upon the world, which is backed up by Dolores comments to Teddy about taking the world.
