3. William Must Play The Game Alone (But Could El Lazo Return?)

The Season 2 premiere introduced the Man in Black - and by extension us viewers - to a new game. Whereas the Maze was Arnold's design that William merely found, this one - the Door - is designed by Dr Robert Ford specifically for him.

We still don't know exactly what it is or what 'the door' might be, and likely won't until it's found, but there is another rule added to it this week: William has to go it pretty much alone, with only the somewhat hapless Lawrence (a returning Clifton Collins Jr.) for help. The reason for this isn't fully stated, but it must be because this is designed to truly test William, but more-so being something very personal to him.

It does mean, unfortunately, that we only get to spend a brief amount of time with the new version of El Lazo, played by Giancarlo Esposito in a brilliant cameo. His character commits suicide, but does that mean we've seen the last of him? Maybe for now, although speaking to THR Esposito is hopeful for an eventual return.
