In The Comics:
A high school student boasting an encyclopaedic knowledge of superheroes, Malcolm Powder visits Alias Investigations in hopes of landing a job under Jessica Jones, who he's a big fan of. Jessica kicks him out a couple of times after he barges into her office asking for work, before eventually agreeing to take him on in exchange for assistance on a missing person's case, which he eventually helps her solve.
In The TV Series:
Introduced as Jessica's drug-addicted neighbour in season one, Malcolm is a kind-hearted, compassionate character who was manipulated by Kilgrave into spying on Jessica, using drugs to influence him even after his mind control wore off. He gets himself clean and off drugs with Jessica's help, and forms a support group for victims of Kilgrave's mind control. In The Defenders, and segueing into season two, he becomes Jessica's unofficial assistant at Alias Investigations, helping her with cases, before his involvement with Trish's mission and Jessica's lack of gratefulness and need to push people away forces him to look to other job opportunities. He's one of the most easily lovable characters in the series, portrayed effectively by Aussie actor Eka Darville in all seasons.
