11. Mike Barker
Main character: Terry Bates
Whilst Seth Macfarlane is often the name that springs to mind when thinking of the creators of American Dad (and deservedly so), Mike Barker also played a huge part of the series as the co-creator. Although Barker departed from the show after ten seasons, Macfarlane has frequently credited him for the success and longevity of the animated sitcom.
Barker also provided some voice work for American Dad, his main character being Terry Bates, the former co-anchor and life partner of Greg Corbin. Initially, Stan had a prejudice against the two because their views and lifestyle went against his conservatism, but he eventually developed to accept them as nice, friendly men.
After Barker left the show, his character was not replaced by a different voice actor and thus, Terry Bates made an abrupt departure midway through the series. Whilst Greg has been able to carry along the same wit and dry banter without his partner, it does feel like there is something missing without the complete duo.
