The Character: Joe is the good-natured father of the Swanson family, but he's also got something of an issue dealing with his anger.
The evolution of the character has devolved into a laughing stock; being Family Guy there are obvious and continuous jokes made about his physicality. But outside of that, Joe has become the weakest of the four men of Spooner Street, and gags within episodes often rely on Joe's ranking on the pecking order.
The Actor: Patrick Warburton has had one heck of a career, lending his booming voice to many animations including The Emperor's New Groove, Kim Possible and The Venture Bros.
Warburton isn't just a tall man with a baritone voice - he's made many film appearances such as in Men In Black II, Get Smart and Ted. His leading man chops have also hit the small screen on shows like Rules of Engagement, A Series of Unfortunate Events and the 2001 version of the live-action The Tick series.
