Why Mr. Robot Just Got Cancelled
3. A Blessing, Not A Curse
It's not very often that big shows go out while the fire is still burning. All too often shows stick around longer than they are wanted, decrease in quality and end up giving a finale that fans loathe. Dexter comes to mind as a case of the bad, while Breaking Bad a case of the good.
Mr. Robot seems to be falling into the "good" category. As stated, Sam Esmail has a story he wants to tell and that's what fans are going to ultimately be getting, no more and no less.
While some are hurt to see the show go, it's not a bad thing. Esmail could instead choose to sit on Mr. Robot as long as possible and as long as allowed, churning out nonsense that fans will watch, groan about and then be back the next week to repeat the process. Instead, fans will get a complete and tight-knit story arc that was crafted with care and passion.
It also looks like fans will be getting an extended Season Four thanks to the show ending as well. The fourth season was originally only going to feature eight episodes, the lowest order in a season the show had seen. Since the news of the show ending has come out though, it has been speculated that the order will be bumped up to 12 episodes instead.
With USA Network allowing Mr. Robot episodes to run over the 60-minute mark, it wouldn't be crazy to think there's going to be some feature-length episodes in that order.
