Young Justice: Outsiders - 4 Ups & 2 Downs From Episodes 7-9

Downs...

2. Halo: Infinite Death

Young Justice Outsiders Halo Dies
DC Universe

The third of this week's episodes, 'Home Fires', was a rather haunting tale that played out Ocean-Master's plot to kill the families of certain Justice League members simultaneously with Lobo's mission to destroy Forager. The latter was quite controversial for featuring a graphic scene in which the mercenary shot a grapple hook through Halo's sternum as she attempted to fly away with Forager, dragging her back to the ground. The bloody scene was quite uncomfortable to watch but, given the show's new mature approach, that wasn't the issue here. It was problematic because Halo died... again.

She may share a name with a military shooter game, but that does not mean that the show needs to keep using her for target practice. Yes, we get it - she has regenerative powers, allowing her to return to life after being killed, but she has now been graphically slain in three out of the season's nine episodes so far. In fact, she always ends up dying the third episode of each weekly-released batch.

It would be preferable if we didn't see this character, who fans have now grown quite fond of, die a gruesome death once a week. Halo has proven to be the most effective of The Outsiders so she really deserves more than having to play out the same cycle over and over again.
