5. Starting Strong

The first of the quartet of episodes, 'Exceptional Human Beings' was headlined by a covert mission involving Batman, Metamorpho and Katana - all of whom quietly infiltrated Santa Prisca to get some answers on The League of Shadows. In doing so, they learned that the organization's new leader was none other than Deathstroke (who also revealed that he had become the newest member of The Light) while its new sensei was the deadly Lady Shiva (who was also now The Light's new enforcer).

The episode was a major success on all counts. Though it may have taken us away from the season's primary characters, it ended up providing us with some much-needed answers surrounding the twin mysteries of The League and The Light's status, not to mention giving us an apparent update on why Tara was no longer on the island.

However, there was more to this encounter than just story progression. It also proved to be a visually-stunning outing as Metamorpho and Katana moved through the forests of Santa Prisca exquisitely before we got the chance to witness three amazing solo battles as Batman squared off against Bane, Metamorpho outwitted Deathstroke and Katana met Lady Shiva in a sword fight. A highly entertaining conclusion to an incredibly fruitful episode.
