Young Sheldon: 10 Big Bang Theory Inconsistencies
4. Sheldon’s Age Doesn’t Add Up
Sheldon’s date of birth is stated in The Big Bang Theory as February 26th 1980. This is clearly mentioned on more than one occasion. That would make Sheldon 27 in the show’s first season.
In a first season episode called The Luminous Fish Effect Sheldon gets fired from his job. It’s at this point that recounts his career and academic history:-
“I’ve spent the past three and a half years staring at greaseboards full of equations. Before that I spent four years working on my thesis. Before that I was in college and before that I was in the 5th grade.
A major plot in Young Sheldon is that the boy genius starts college aged just eleven. If you add up his college years, four years for his thesis and three and a half in his job that still only makes him 22 years old. What happened to those extra five years? Did he get held back a bunch of times in college? That kind of defeats the point of him starting so young in the first place.
